- Network through resources like LinkedIn, ZoomInfo, Facebook, our own candidate database, industry associations and targeted research.
- Work the phones. Yes, we use on-line job postings, resume databases, career fairs and other methods for finding candidates as well, but the best candidates often come from personal networking and referrals – if not face to face, at least through lots of dialogue.
- Screen candidates and validate information.
- Promote the opportunity and the client company to the candidate, affirming why it’s a great place to work.
- Invest considerable time with candidates to find out what they are really looking for.
- Manage the process with the candidate so they are fully informed and prepared for any interview.
- Manage key information including what else the candidate has “on-the-go” (good candidates have choices and their status can change daily).
- Discuss all compensation issues with candidates and consult with the employer regarding what needs to happen to bring the process to a successful conclusion.
- Pre-close the candidate throughout the complete hiring cycle. Many experienced recruiters will not present an offer unless they know it will be accepted.
- Cover counter-offer issues with the candidate so if and when one is received, the candidate knows how to deal with it effectively.
